Different Microsoft products have for many years communicated with each other, users familiar with earlier versions of Dynamics AX could relatively easily extract data from any form into a MS Excel for example which is part of the suite of products available in Microsoft Office 365.
With D365 moving into the cloud this interaction and integration has taken another leap forward with even greater connectivity and seamless integration now possible but without so much of the technological expertise that was previously required. MS Forms for example provides you with a tool that can very easily connect to D365, in effect providing users with the capability of creating additional forms to those that are standard with data.
Obviously the use of such tools needs to be given a solution architects consideration, you would for example want to consider such things as where does this data ultimately reside, how does it comply with GDPR and so forth but the important point is that the greater the ability to easily connect to other systems and products the less the dependency on expensive technical solution providers.
For organisations that want to leverage the most from the improved productivity these tools offer they may need to consider moving from older Office products to Microsoft Office 365.
